There's something compelling about ghost towns. Perhaps it's a sense of those lives that passed through the town, nothing-very-special people, but willing to brave the harsh desert environment for a chance at something different and maybe better; perhaps a sense of the tragedy of those hopes abandoned. Ghost towns are a snapshot of human endeavor without the humans. So we venture along roads sometimes barely passable with ruts, rocks, and rubble, seeking GPS coordinates. And at the end of the road, we find the photogenic silent skeletons of civilization falling into rust and dust.
